Political Cartoons

Political Cartoon #1
According to their amount of experience, neither of the Presidential Candidates are applicable to take the position of Presidency. This cartoon is showing Obama in a crib with a pacifier in his mouth, which is telling us that he is too young and does not have enough experience. Obama's age wont neccessairly effect how good of a President he would be if elected, but his experience will. Next to Obama is McCain who is depicted as sickly, old, and in a rocking chair. To me this is showing that even though some people might want to have a young black man to change up the white house, others want a experienced man who has learned from past mistakes and know what not to do in the future. Ultimatley this cartoon is saying how neither of the Presidential hopefuls should be in the white house.

Political Cartoon #2
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are out of control, the US government is bailing them out, but in the end it will be the tax payers that will suffer. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are shown as tornadoes out of control. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae are the two largest home mortgage brokers in the country and have made many unwise decisions in their spending. In this cartoon a house is depicted with Uncle Sam standing beside it saying "Oh Crud" and cleaning up the mess from the tornadoes. The house is representing all of the houses being lost by former owners because Freddie Mac and Frannie Mae are spending and giving out more money than they actually have, and to people who cant afford to pay off the debts. It is also representing the disaster in the economy that these two corporations are causing it, and also how average Americans are going to have to suffer for it. In conclusion when big buisnesses fail, the government should not bail them out because they should suffer the consequences of their actions.

Political Cartoon #3
No matter what subject both parties are always focused and talking about Sarah Palin. This cartoon is showing a donkey saying to a psychiatrist "I see that ignorant, unqualified, horrible, gun toting, woman" about a black splotch. The donkey is depicting the democratic party and it is saying that all the democratic party is focusing on is Sarah Palin, her flaws, and "unqualifications". Next to the donkey is a elephant saying to the same psychiatrist "I see that lovely, charming, God fearing, well qualified, gun toting lady." The elephant is obviously representing the republican party. This cartoon is depicting how different the views are of Sarah Palin and how none of them have to do with her views. In conclusion this cartoon is showing that Sarah Palin is the center of attention and conversation for both parties.

Political Cartoon #4
Wall Street is not being affected by the current crisis, while Main Street is suffereing from their consequences. The fist thing seen in this cartoon is a man with Wall Streen written on his suit while the FEDS are carrying him off on a stretcher that says Bailout. The man is saying " There I was, minding my own business, when this thoughtless dude threw himself on the hood of my limo...I hope he didnt breat my bluetooth.""Couldnt you guys hurry up? Time is money!". This is depicting hat Wall Street is being saved by the government's new bailout plan. Also, that they claim that it is not at all their fault. The second thing seen in this cartoon is another man with Main Street wirtten on his shirt that fell on the ground. This illustrates that while Wall Street and the big businesses are getting saved by the FEDS and their new bailout plan, the average American on Main Street is suffering from it. In conclusion, the new bailout plan should not only be helping the people on Wall Street but also the ones on Main Street.

Political Cartoon #5
The current market crisis quikly becomes the next big disaster approaching the United States. This cartoon is depicting the globe with a masive tornado that says "Market Crisis" with " The Next Big One" written under it. This is saying that very soon a huge economic crisis will hit the United States. The "Next Big One" is describing the market crisis that is coming our way. This is also saying that we have had some pretty devistating disasters here lately but that nothing will even comapre to this one. In conclusion a disastrous market crisis is drawing near to us, and there is nothing that we can do to stop it.
Political Cartoon #6
Obama is sprining forward towards the White House while John McCain is falling behind. Depicted in this cartoon is Barack Obama running over John McCain, while John McCain is laying on the ground. This is not only refering to the time change but it is also describing how Barack Obama is getting closer and closer in votes to the White House while John McCain, on the other hand, isnt doing so hot. This is probably also showing that John McCain is resting while Barack Obama is still running towards his destination. This could be, subtly, saying that Barack Obama is more determined and persistant than John McCain to become President. In conclusion this cartoon is saying how John McCain is starting to fall behind in votes, while Barack is on his way to becoming President, and springing forward.
